RCN-SEES: Predictive Modeling Network for Sustainable Human-Building Ecosystems (SHBE)
Workshop on Understanding Human Behaviors for Sustainable Building Ecosystems
This NSF-funded Research Coordination Network (RCN) in Science, Engineering and Education for Sustainability (SEES) announces its second workshop on one of its five themes: Human Behaviors. Invited participants are requested to submit an abstract of about 500 words for engaging discussions and presentations describing how the network researchers should be collaborating in the following, but not limited to, aspects:
1.How to promote research collaborations to understand human behaviors for sustainable building ecosystems?
- What are the appropriate methodologies for forming research collaborations?
- What are the appropriate tools and platforms for enabling research communication and coordination?
- How to verify and validate research collaboration methodologies, tools and platforms?
2.What are the important research questions related to understanding occupant behaviors and increasing human adaptation to sustainable building ecosystems?
- Identifying appropriate methodologies and technologies for observing and measuring the behaviors of building occupants
- Understanding how to engage and motivate building occupants in order to maximize awareness and adaptation for sustainable building ecosystems
- Identifying the requirements for human behavior modeling and analysis – what are the right methods?
- Understanding how people make decisions and how to incorporate human motivations, perceptions and biases into models for predicting the performance and adaptation of sustainable building ecosystems
